Bio

Yiannis Psarakis was born in Athens. He began his involvement with music at an early age in the field of Greek folk music and then moved on to Western classical music. He is a senior of the Athens Conservatory with Dimitris Desyllas as his teacher. In 2019 he was awarded a full scholarship from the "George and Maria Vergoti Music Scholarship" programme, in the framework of which he performed Darius Milhaud's Concerto for Percussion and Small Orchestra at the Alternative Stage of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
He has collaborated along with the Athens Conservatory Percussion Ensemble, the Athens State Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Athens and the Onassis Stegi. In 2018, with Dimitris Desyllas, he gave the Greek premiere of Gerard Grisey's "Stélle".


He was a member of the Athens Youth Symphony Orchestra. In addition, he has collaborated with the Athens Children's Museum in the framework of educational programs.
